System Engineer (San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Los Angeles, New York)
System Engineers are responsible for technical sales activities in new and existing opportunities and work closely with Account Executives and Partners to ensure customers satisfaction. System Engineers have in-depth, hands-on experience with SeaMicro’s products and services, competitors’ products and services, and can demonstrate expertise in routing, switching, security, load balancing, and compute/servers to customers and partners. System Engineers assist with understanding customer requirements, delivering sales presentations, presenting technical information about products and services, responding to RFPs, conducting product demonstrations, and installing product. The System Engineering Team is a critical component to the selling process and must be capable of displaying an in-depth knowledge of SeaMicro products as well as industry and competitive solutions.
Pre-Sales responsibilities include:
- Build relationships with customers based on technological respect
- Be the product and solution expert in discussions with customers
- Recommend and design customer solutions
- Publicly present solutions to prospective customers, at multiple customer levels –the engineer, director, and executive level
- Completing site profiles and assisting sales in technical qualification
- Creating system configurations and Visio diagrams as necessary
Post-Sales responsibilities include:
- Performing physical system installations as necessary
- Documenting engagements and updating processes and procedures
- Tracking support escalations
- Ability to manage, and train customers on, SeaMicro solutions
- Understanding use cases, and customer deployments
- Preliminary knowledge transfer (training)
Requirements:
Requirements include a minimum of 5 years large-scale data center industry experience. Proficient understanding of the pre-sales engineering process and sales processes is desired. The candidate must have strong written, oral, and presentation skills with the ability to discuss highly technical concepts to a variety of audiences, including executive level technical decision makers. This position requires a strong background in routing, switching, and compute/servers. Additional expertise in load balancing, storage, and security is a plus.
